Porcelain Crowns, Inlays, & Onlays
If you have significant damage to a tooth, such as a large cavity, a crack, or a hole, Dr. Wei may recommend a porcelain crown, inlay, or onlay. These restorations can also replace old metal dental work to restore your all-white smile.
A crown, custom made in a dental lab, covers a tooth to restore damage caused by a large cavity, crack, or other structural problem. White porcelain crowns blend with existing teeth, so your naturally beautiful smile will not be tarnished by metal dental work. Inlays and onlays, also created in a lab, fit within a hole left by an old filling or a large area of decay. These restorations, too, are white and beautiful.
To place a crown, inlay, or onlay requires two visits. The first appointment includes preparation of the tooth, taking an impression, and attaching a temporary. Between visits, our dental lab creates the custom restorations according to our specifications. Then, in the final appointment, Dr. Wei removes the temporary and permanently places the restoration.
